On Friday 23rd March, Ranelagh School hosted the ‘Spectroscopy in a Suitcase’ workshop, run by Evita Hartmane, a Doctoral Researcher from University of Reading, in collaboration with Shehla Minhas, an Educational Coordinator from the Royal Society of Chemistry. The workshop gave students the opportunity to use an Infrared Spectrometer to analyse various chemical samples. It also recapped and expanded on the theory and application of chemical analysis. Students used the information provided to determine the identity of a range of chemicals using these analytical techniques. A very challenging and successful session!
