On the morning of Wednesday 24th January, the Mock Trial team took the train into Reading to visit the Magistrates Court. They were able to get a feel for how a court room is laid out, practise using their loud voices and meet members of staff who work in the court. Our defendant (Eve Lester) was even able to sit in the dock and experience the feeling of being on trial!
The team were then able to run through elements of their case for the upcoming schools competition and receive feedback from magistrates and lawyers currently working in the court system. The feedback they received was fantastic and should help the team on the way to another winning performance this year! The team did themselves proud with their performances and learned a lot from the visit.
Next step for the team is the first round of the competition, which will be held on Saturday 17th March in the afternoon at Reading Crown Court.
