The Mock trial team spent a tense Saturday battling in court on Saturday 12th May and came away with a successful 2nd place as well as a spot in the National Final which will be held in Birmingham in June. The team had just three weeks to prepare for this round of the competition which involved writing and learning prosecuting and defending statements, and writing questions to ask the ‘witnesses’ in the case. All of our students rose to the challenge magnificently and faced much tougher opposition in this round compared to the local final.
During the day, the team had to listen and respond to a mixture of practised and unpractised answers and make their case that the defendant was either guilty or not guilty, depending which round they were competing in. The team were once again praised for their professionalism, confidence and ability to cope under pressure. They will now progress to the National Final, which sees the top teams in the country compete for the top spot. It is a fantastic achievement to progress to this level of the competition. Good luck to the team for the final round!
