Mock Trial – Reading Crown Court

Following a brilliant performance to students and parents at the Founders’ Day Festival on Saturday 6th July, the Mock Trial team assembled for the last time this year at Reading Crown Court on Thursday 12th July. The team recently achieved the incredible feat of becoming National Champions, beating over 300 other schools, for the second year running and were invited to the Court as a special ‘well done’.

The team were seated in what is now a very familiar court room and awaited the arrival of Her Honour, Judge Morris on arrival. We were surprised to be greeted by all six Crown Court judges in their full robes and wigs which was a huge honour. We were also joined by the High Sheriff of Berkshire who helped present certificates and trophies to the team.

The high point from the team’s perspective came next – tea in the judges dining room! The team had their fill of cakes and lemonade and had the opportunity to ask questions and talk with the judges and High Sheriff in a more informal setting. This was a really special opportunity and thoroughly enjoyed by all. We wish to extend our sincere thanks to HH Judge Morris and all the staff at Reading Crown Court for making this possible.
