On Saturday 17th March, the Mock Trial team battled threats of snow to compete in the local heat of the competition at Reading Crown Court. Many of the team are experienced in the competition but the pressure was still on to deliver a good performance in this round of the competition. The team did not disappoint, delivering a simply outstanding performance in both heats.
The Ranelagh prosecution and defence team both managed to get the verdicts they wanted in their respective rounds, which is unusual in this competition. They were praised by judges, magistrates and court staff for their professional team work, confidence and intelligent questioning. After a tense wait, and what seemed like a very long pause after second place was announced, Ranelagh were announced as the winners of their heat! They will now compete against teams from across the region who were also successful in the first round.
