Ranelagh students arrived at the Colegio Decroly ready for a full-on day of sight-seeing. We jumped on a bus to Cibeles, then walked to the Museo de Cera (wax museum) for a quick romp through Spanish history and introduction to the Spanish Royal family. The likeness of Carlos de Inglaterra to Prince Charles wasn’t the best we’ve seen, but the kilt gave it away. We picnicked on the steps of the Prado, then students chose to visit either the Prado or the Reina Sofia art museums. One highlight was Picasso’s vast Guernica painting. For others, interviewing the locals as part of a video project gave a real sense of achievement. After a short stop,at the Caixa Forum exhibition of humanitarian photographs, we returned to Puerto de Sol for free time in the shops and cafes, then took the metro back to school. Cold but sunny, crisp weather.
