Seventy five Year Ten students took part in the ‘Biology Challenge’, an annual national competition run in March by the Institute of Biology. There are questions set on the GCSE Biology curriculum but the challenge also rewards those students’ whose knowledge of the subject has been increased by reading books and magazines, watching natural history programmes, taking notice of the news media for items of biological interest, and are generally aware of our natural fauna and flora. Question categories included: body structures, health and disease, organs, hormones and characteristics.
Gold certificates were awarded to Edward Hardy and Benjamin Wright. Silver certificates were awarded to George Atkinson, Bethany Cook, Cait Cromatie, Tino Makura, Phoebe Walker and Jessica Clayton-Rowley. Bronze certificates were awarded to Caroline Ayres, Nicholas Godfrey, Alexander McBride, Briony Swinyard, Stanley Bell, Emma Quainton, Hannah Eriksson, India Gane, Harry Kincade and Daniel Tolkacevs.
Congratulations to everyone who took part.
