Ranelagh Parent Teacher Association
Who Are the PTA?
Our strapline is Putting the Fun into Fundraising. We organise various events throughout the year for Ranelagh families to enjoy and to fundraise for the school.
The PTA is organised by a joint Parent-Teacher committee, led by Mrs Stevens as PTA President and parent volunteers includes the executive roles of Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer. The PTA is a registered charity, the members of which are parents or guardians of students at Ranelagh School. You can find out more about the Ranelagh PTA on the Charities Commission Website www.charity-commission.gov.uk (registered charity number 1125897).
How Can I help the PTA?
Ranelagh PTA is proud to be running a Speaker Series for students and their families to introduce them to a range of fascinating speakers and topics and to help raise money for the school at the same time.
The Series launched in the summer of 2019 with a talk by former Concorde Captain, Vivian Gunton on Concorde – the supersonic experience.
We’re thrilled that the second talk in the Series will be given by Bryony Gordon – journalist, podcaster, author and mental health champion. Bryony joins us to share her wisdom with the next generation and their parents and carers. With her candid honesty and witty intellectual style, you’d be mad to miss it!
Talking about her new book, You Got This, Bryony will share the life lessons she wished someone had told her as a teenager. Copies of her book will be available to buy and Bryony is happy to sign copies.
Packed with 10 key life lessons, You Got This will appeal not just to teenage girls but to any young person or adult wanting to get to grips with adolescence. The event is aimed at parents, carers and young people. People from outside the Ranelagh school community are welcome to join us so please do bring along your family and friends and spread the word!
See our Events page for details of all future PTA events.
Date: To be confirmed
Time: Doors open 7pm – talk starts 7.30pm
Cost: £5 per person (payable to Ranelagh PTA)
Light refreshments will be available.
New Date: The Bryony Gordon Speaker Evening is being rescheduled to the Spring term owing to Bryony’s very busy schedule but rest assured she will be coming! We’ll notify you of the new date just as soon as this has been confirmed in the new year. If you have already booked tickets please don’t worry, we will reserve your places for the new date and keep your money safe. If, however, you would like us to return your booking form and money then simply email us.
Due to their poor state of repair many student toilet facilities are in desperate need of refurbishment. That’s why the PTA has agreed to set up a special fundraising appeal as the main fundraising priority for 2018-2019. The appeal is supported by the students themselves, including the Student Council. Find out more about the Appeal.
As of May 2019 we have committed an amazing £60,000 towards this project. We’re pleased to say that the first of the boy’s toilets have been refurbished over the summer holidays and the first of the girl’s toilets are nearing completion as of January 2020.

Easyfundraising and Amazon Smile
easyfundraising is a way to turn your everyday online shopping into FREE donations. When you shop at one of the hundreds of available stores online through easyfundraising, they make a donation to the PTA to say thank you for shopping with them.
What’s Amazon Smile?
AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support a charity of your choice – Ranelagh School Parent Teacher Association – every time you shop, at no cost to you.
Why sign up?
So far we’ve raised £2,957.73 through easyfundraising with just 158 subscribers. Imagine how much more we could raise if every parents and carer signed up and remembered to shop online in this way?
What’s the catch?
There isn’t one. It costs you nothing and easyfundraising and amazon make sure donations come straight to the PTA.
How do I sign up?
Go to www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/ranelaghpta/ You can download an app to your phone to manager your account and shop on your phone or shop via the site on your web browser.
Go to smile.amazon.co.uk from the web browser on your computer or mobile device. You may also want to add a bookmark to smile.amazon.co.uk to make it even easier to return and start your shopping at AmazonSmile.
Do you have to sign up to Amazon Smile if you are already registered with easyfundraising?
Yes, if you’re shopping on Amazon. Just search for Amazon Smile on easyfundraising as you would any other store and follow the links. Once you’ve chosen Ranelagh School Parent Teacher Association as your charity, you won’t need to select it again when you shop at amazon next time.
Can I use Amazon Smile through the Amazon app on my phone?
Android phones give you the option to add a cause to your Settings but unfortunately iPhones don’t yet. There’s a work around in the meantime – Go to www.smile.amazon.com in your phone’s browser and log into your account. In the phone’s menu bar at the top right, select “Add to home screen.” A kind of “app” for Amazon Smile will appear on your home screen. You can first go into the Amazon shopping app (better appearance for phone) and choose your items, then click on the Amazon Smile “app” and order from there.
We’re now registered to receive Gift Aid so if you’re a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid increases the value of your charity donations by 25%, because the charity can reclaim the basic rate of tax on your gift – at no extra cost to you. Just remember to tick the gift aid box and confirm your address when asked and we do the rest.
Match Funding and Corporate Social Responsibility Programmes
A number of parents have been able to seek considerable sums of funding from their employers as either match funding for events they have been involved with, or through a charity programme (sometimes badged Corporate Social Responsibility or CSR programmes for short).
For instance, Microsoft have match funded our annual Quiz Night for several years now which has doubled any profits made at those events. Others, such as Afton Chemical Ltd have been longstanding donors of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize money given at our Founders Day raffle as part of their CSR programme.
Other local companies choose to support Ranelagh PTA charity by donating goods or equipment for events. The Dyer family from the Butchers in Windsor, for example, have been donating a fabulous free-range turkey as part of the 1st prize Christmas hamper for years, and Hall Hunter Partnership (Farming) have been donating strawberries for our Founders Day cream teas for years too.
There are so many ways businesses can help us to raise more money for the school. Please let us know if you can help in any way – we’d love to hear from you. We’ve even produced a letter template to help you make an appeal to your employer.
