Research Project with Cambridge University

Recently, Mrs Cunningham was invited to talk at the launch of a new website for Maths teachers. The website, Underground Maths, is the result of a 3-year research project in partnership with Cambridge University to provide teachers with high quality resources for teaching A Level Mathematics. Ranelagh has been a partner school since the beginning of the project and as a department we have attended training at Cambridge University and provided feedback to the researchers on the resources over the 3 years. The project has been a real partnership with teacher’s views of the resources being taken at every step. At the launch Mrs Cunningham addressed a large audience of teachers and other professionals from education, including university professors and representatives from the DfE.

Another part of this project is to promote the materials and Mrs Scott has been selected along with 7 other teachers in England to promote these materials as an Underground Mathematics Champion. She spent a weekend in Cambridge getting to know the other teachers and getting to know the materials better. Underground Maths is being promoted by the Champions talking to other Maths teachers in their schools, Maths CPD events, twitter (@UndergroundMath ) and through a closed Facebook group  which you can ask to join.
